A colonoscopy is the endoscopic examination of the large bowel and the distal portion of the small bowel with a camera on a flexible tube passed through the anus. Colonoscopies are the most effective way to screen for colon cancer which is treatable if detected in its early stages. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends that adults between the ages of 45 to 75 undergo screening for colorectal cancer through colonoscopies. We now include AI detection in our screening colonoscopies! AI can significantly improve colonoscopy efficacy by helping doctors detect abnormalities more accurately and quickly. During the procedure, AI-powered tools can analyze images from the colonoscopy in real time, identifying potential signs of diseases like cancer or polyps that the human eye might miss. AI helps doctors make better decisions by assisting in early detection, leading to earlier interventions and better patient outcomes.
